Actually Rotary membership started many years ago in 1975 when I was a founder member of the Rotary Club of Ferndown in Dorset but, of course this came to an end with life in Abu Dhabi for 11 years.
Rotary membership started again in 1997 with Haywards Heath Rotary and later on with a transfer to Cuckfield and Lindfield Rotary. Now the two clubs have merged and I hah the honour of being the first president of Cuckfield Lindfield & Haywards Heath Rotary.
Rotary clubs normally meet every week for a lunch or dinner meeting with members dedicated to being of service to the community, supporting worthy causes and helping those in need.

Probus as you might know is a retirement club for retired and semi-retired men and women with a PROfessional and BUSiness background.
Unlike Rotary, it is not a volunteer service organisation but it is a social club where members can socialise, enjoy the company of others, take part in visits to interesting places and enjoy away trips and holiday breaks with other members. Probus clubs usually meet once at month for lunch and an engaging guest speaker.

Playing golf has been a most enjoyable part of my retirement with the challenge on the golf course followed by the friendship and camaraderie in the club house or sunny patio afterwards.
In Tenerife being a member of the Paloma Beach Golf Society has been a pleasure playing Golf del Sur, Golf Costa Adeje, Golf Las Americas, Amarilla Golf and Tecina Golf on La Gomera. More recently being a member of the Bay Bounders has been marvellous playing Golf Los Palos with a super group of people who enjoy excelling with their short game on a Par 3 course.
Back home in Sussex, it has been a privilege being a member of Haywards Heath Golf Club and Lindfield Golf Club backed up by membership of the Phoenix Golf Society and the Minabal Society, both established in 1976.
The motto of the Phoenix Golf Society is
FUN
CAMARADERIE
GOOD GOLF COURSES
