From GCE's at school it was on to college for ONC (Structural & Civil Engineering) eventually finishing with HNC at Natal Technical College (Durban). Energetic days of racing bikes, cycling everywhere with best friend Michael Drake from Leyton. He had a Carlton bike and I had a Sun bike. Life was all about double clangers and Campagnolo gears!

Care free days of living on £5 per week but managing to enjoy life with three close friends, Clive Giddings, Peter Singer and Michael Frost. Fun was all about trad jazz at Cooks Ferry Inn, The Royal Forest and Chislehurst Caves together with pub crawls in cars which is highly irresponsible in todays world of "no drink and drive." Fictious birthday celebrations at Lyons Corner Houses were regular!

Work started at W & C French Civil Engineering where I designed the pile foundation for Winston Churchil statue (above) on Woodford Green in 1959. Money was supplemented by serving drinks in the Reindeer Pub, Buckhurst Hill in the evenings.
Employment continued with Consulting Engineers in London working on a road network for Abu Dhabi, pipelines in Shell Haven Refinery and Crawley Civic Centre.
